Lodging & Camping

Most attendees camp with the group at Rosland Campground, which we have reserved for the Bug-Out. If you would rather sleep indoors, there are several good hotels and motels a few minutes away in La Pine.

Rosland Campground — Our Home Base

16525 Burgess Road, La Pine, OR 97739 · Just over a mile off Highway 97, about 5 minutes from town.

Rosland sits on 42 acres along the Little Deschutes River. As a group camp, it is set up beautifully for the kind of event where people actually get to know each other. Large shared sites, room for trailers, and a handful of power sites mean everyone can set up comfortably without being scattered across different loops of some massive state park. The whole group stays within easy walking distance.

Facilities we can use

  • Toilets on-site
  • Covered picnic pavilion
  • Outdoor amphitheater (theater)
  • Children's play area
  • River access right on the Little Deschutes
  • Several sites with power (no full hookups), and room for trailers

Please note: the on-site cabin is not available for our group.

How camping works: This is a group campground, so every site is shared with at least one other attendee, and more on the larger sites. Camping is charged per person, not per site. To camp, just choose the $120 registration option (event admission plus camping, good for up to 3 nights, Thursday through Sunday). When you arrive, you check in and are placed at a shared site.
Power is limited. There are no full hookups. A handful of sites have power, and those are first come, first served. Plan to dry camp if you can. Depending on when you arrive, you might be able to grab a spot with power.
No rod? No problem. We will have a few loaner tenkara rods available to check out, so you can get on the water even if you do not have your own gear yet.

A note on the campground

The park district is refurbishing Rosland this year. If you have seen some older online reviews, know that the facilities are getting a fresh update and the park director has confirmed the grounds will be in great shape for our late-June arrival. Do not let any dated reviews give you pause.

Campfire policy (please read)

Fire season has already started, with restrictions in place as of May 18. That means no open fires and no briquettes at individual sites. Here is how we will still gather around the flames:

  • We will host one fire-season-approved group campfire for everyone in the evenings.
  • At your own site, propane fire pits are allowed, as long as they have a turn-on, turn-off knob so the flame can be shut off instantly. No wood fires, no charcoal, no briquettes.

Please plan accordingly and help us keep everyone safe out there.
